The Rise (and Fall?) of Nonfinancial LTI Metrics
Article | Sarah Lindenberg Cohen quoted in Financial Times Agenda
Sarah Lindenberg Cohen, Consultant, was quoted in, “The Rise (and Fall?) of Nonfinancial LTI Metrics,” an article that appeared in the June 8, 2026 issue of the Agenda’s Newsbrief. The article discusses the changing metrics of long-term incentive plans (LTI) and the use of non-financial metrics.
Sarah provided her thoughts on and insights into what she is advising in the Board room regarding when and how to explore the use of strategic goals in programs that are explicitly intended to tie to long-term and sustained shareholder value creation.
She highlights key considerations such as the importance of motivating executives through a belief in the fairness of the program, building a program that is nimble enough to remain relevant in the event of a strategic shift, insulating the program from the impact of macroeconomic influences outside of executives’ control, and designing a plan that is externally defensible and how the nonfinancial metrics may help (or not) achieve these objectives.
